The Music Dwayne Vance and John Butler have written eleven original songs, with each song telling a story about a member of the Smith family. The music is copyrighted and may only be used with permission from both Dwayne and John. Following are some examples of the stories told through these songs. "Brotherly Love" was the first song written by Dwayne and John, and tells the story of the strong bond between Joseph Smith, Jr. and his elder brother Hyrum who stood firmly by Joseph’s side and constantly supported Joseph in all of his endeavors, including the final moments of Joseph’s mortal life when both Joseph and Hyrum were murdered in cold blood at Carthage Jail. The song concludes by explaining that each of us have an elder brother in Jesus Christ to whom we can turn for support and guidance in our own lives. "Fruit of My Loins" is the story of Asael Smith, the father of Joseph Smith, Sr., who prophesied that one of his descendants would have a profound impact on the world of religion. "Visionary Man" is the story of Joseph Smith, Sr., and the many visions he personally had while Joseph Smith, Jr. was still a young boy and long before the events in the Sacred Grove. In fact, in one of these visions Joseph Smith, Sr. saw the Tree in Life. "A Mother’s Prayer" is the story of Lucy Mack Smith, and the miraculous manner in which the very lives of her children, including Joseph and Hyrum, were preserved as the result of a mother’s earnest prayer. These songs have not yet been recorded on a CD, but hopefully will be available on CD soon.
"Lo Here" is a lively song telling the story of the general excitement about religion and the competitions among the various congregations when young Joseph was confused about which church to join.
"Light of the World" is the story of Joseph's experience in the Sacred Grove in which he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ.
"My Wife" is a beautiful love song in which Joseph and Hyrum serenade their brides to be, with a reprise sung by Emma and Jerusha.
"Voice from the Dust" is the story of Joseph's translation of the golden plates.
"Love of God" is the story of vicarious work for the dead as revealed to Joseph.
